TASA’s First-Time Superintendents Academy (FTSA) — the go-to training for beginning Texas superintendents for decades — has been designed around the most important learning outcomes for first- and second-year superintendents.

Session 1 of 4: Understanding the Dynamics of Your District, Community, and Board | July 23-24, 2025
Learn strategies for gaining a better understanding of the dynamics of your new district, including the logistics of working with your school board and assessing the district’s financial situation. Connect with mentors and formulate a plan for the first 90 days of the school year. First session includes a special kick-off dinner and reception.

Schedule

Day One: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (breakfast, lunch included) then 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (reception and dinner)

Day Two: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. (breakfast included)

Housing Reservations for Session 1

Participants must book their own lodging. A housing block has been reserved at the Marriott Austin North in Round Rock. Use this link to make hotel reservations by July 1, 2025.

Registration

FTSA online registration is now open for all four 2025-26 sessions. FTSA is a rolling cohort, and new superintendents may join at any time throughout the year. If you are unable to attend any of the sessions as scheduled, you may always register for any missed sessions the following year.

Cost is $245 per TASA member and $295 per non-member per session. You must register for each of the four sessions separately; see links below.

How to Register

1. Log in to your TASA Member Services Center (MSC) account. (If you have not yet created a login for the new system, read “Getting Started: Create a New Login ” and take the steps to create your login so that you may register.)
2. Once logged in, click on this link to register for Session 1 of FTSA, scheduled for July 23-24, 2025.

IMPORTANT: Because FTSA is exclusively for superintendents, you must have special permissions on your MSC account to register, so you must log in to YOUR MSC account or have your assistant log in using your username and password to register you. If you are unable to register using your own MSC account and think you might need need special permissions added to your account, email TASA to inquire.
