TASA’s First-Time Superintendents Academy (FTSA) — the go-to training for beginning Texas superintendents for decades — has been designed around the most important learning outcomes for first- and second-year superintendents.

Session 3 of 4: Advocating for Your District, Your Students, and Yourself | February 17-18, 2027
Check in on the success of your 90-day plan, find out what you need to know about advocacy at the state level, and dig into superintendent contract issues, the superintendent evaluation instrument, and managing crisis through communication. Continue work on your portfolio.

Schedule

Day One: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (breakfast, lunch included) then 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (reception and dinner)

Day Two: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. (breakfast included) followed by optional (free) Lunch & Learn Session by TASB Energy Cooperative

Optional Free Lunch & Learn After Sessions

TASA is offering an opportunity for FTSA participants to stay for a complimentary Lunch & Learn on the second day of Sessions 1–4 that will be hosted by our friends at Lone Star Investment Pool, BuyBoard, TASB Energy Cooperative, and TASB Risk Management Fund. Enjoy lunch and an engaging, relevant presentation on topics designed to support new superintendents in their first years of leadership: district investments, risk management, and purchasing. Sign-up info will be provided to registered FTSA participants.

Housing Reservations for Session 3

Participants must book their own lodging. A housing block has been reserved at the Marriott Austin North in Round Rock. To get the group rate, you must book housing through this reservation link by January 29.

Registration

FTSA online registration is open for all four 2026-27 sessions. FTSA is a rolling cohort, and new superintendents may join at any time throughout the year. If you are unable to attend any of the sessions as scheduled, you may always register for any missed sessions the following year.

Cost is $245 per TASA member and $295 per non-member per session. You must register for each of the four sessions separately; see links below.
