Assistant Principal Leadership Academy
TASA partners with N2 Learning to offer the Assistant Principal Leadership Academy (APL), which not only prepares assistant principals to take on the role of principal, but also helps them to grow as transformational leaders.
2026-27 Cohorts
For 2026-27, APL will again have a virtual cohort as well as regional cohorts that will meet in-person. The regional cohorts allow assistant principals to learn alongside peers from neighboring districts and allow districts to minimize travel expenses for attendees. Cost is $1,000 per person for the regional cohorts or the virtual cohort. (Rates exclude travel expenses.) The academy includes six, half-day sessions throughout the school year.

About the Academy
Content
The Assistant Principal Leadership Academy supports assistant principals as they strengthen their leadership and prepare for the principalship. Grounded in the commitments of The Texas Promise, the academy focuses on instructional leadership, systems thinking, and building the capacity to lead and grow adults. Through cross-district collaboration and application to real campus challenges, participants deepen their leadership identity, expand their perspective, and strengthen their ability to cultivate learning organizations that sustain long-term impact.
Cohort Network
Assistant principals who participate in APL will benefit not only from what they learn during the academy, but also from being part of a cohort of like-minded leaders — a network they can come to rely on in the years to come.
Who Should Attend
Assistant principals who:
- are preparing for the principalship
- want to strengthen instructional leadership and systems thinking
- are committed to building adult capacity and leading teams
- value collaboration through cross-district professional networks
- are interested in advancing the commitments of The Texas Promise
What Administrators Are Saying About the Academy
Attending the APL has given me the time to truly self-reflect on my craft and abilities as an AP. It has grown me by providing me with new perspectives. I love that we ended with “How will we continue to grow others?” and this is one of my favorite parts of this role. I was fortunate to have earned elementary AP of the year for my district, and still know there is so much more to learn!
N2 Learning AP Academy has helped grow several of my APs and I can’t wait to send another one this year! Phenomenal takeaways and great networking opportunities!
I am lucky that my district felt like I was worth the investment to send me to APL. APL is a tremendous support to leaders who are ready to grow into the next step. I learned about specific areas in which I need to grow, how to shine in my role, and small changes I can make to be better in my current and future roles!
This has been one of the most impactful leadership trainings I have ever participated in. I would recommend it to any AP.
APL has been a game changer for me. I have learned so much from the presenter but also from my peers. The professional connections has been my favorite part of APL.
APL has helped me add and continue to build my toolkit for supporting educators and students on my campus. Taking a day each month to reconnect and engage in meaningful learning has positively influenced my craft! Thank you!
