Exploring Education Policy & Legislative Issues

As school leaders, TASA members play a crucial role as advocates for public education in Texas. They actively participate in the state’s legislative and public policy processes on issues critical to school districts and the children and communities they serve. To support their advocacy efforts on behalf of Texas public schools, TASA offers school leaders opportunities for in-depth exploration of education policy and legislative issues.

TASA/TASB Legislative Conference

Each legislative session year, TASA and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) hold a free, daylong conference for TASA and TASB members. Trustees and administrators hear from legislators and other Capitol insiders on proposed bills then travel to the Capitol to meet with their representatives.

Other TASA Conferences

Education policy is always a topic at TASA’s major conferences, with sessions that provide updates from Texas Education Agency staff, information on important issues such as student safety and school funding, and tools and tips for advocating for public education.
