At its March 27, 2024, meeting, the TASA Executive Committee ratified the election of San Angelo ISD Superintendent Chris Moran as 2024-25 TASA president-elect. He currently serves as the 2023-24 TASA vice president.

The committee also elected Lamar CISD Superintendent Roosevelt Nivens as the 2024-25 TASA vice president. He currently serves as the chair of the TASA Advocacy Committee, and as such, holds a position on the Executive Committee.

Martha Salazar-Zamora, superintendent, Tomball ISD, assumes the position of 2024-25 TASA president on June 1, when Moran and Nivens also begin their one-year terms. Aldine ISD Superintendent LaTonya Goffney, TASA’s current president, will begin her one-year term as immediate past president June 1.

Other Changes to the Executive Committee for 2024-25

At-Large Members

Buna ISD Superintendent Tiffany Spicer will join the Executive Committee as an at-large member June 1, serving a two-term that will end May 31, 2026.

Sanée Bell, assistant superintendent of Teaching & Learning for Katy ISD, was reappointed to serve a new two-year term as an at-large member that begins June 1 and ends May 31, 2026. She was originally appointed to the position in June 2023 to fill a vacancy and complete a term that will end May 31, 2024.

At-large members beginning the second year of their terms June 1 are Crosby ISD Superintendent Paula Patterson and El Paso Superintendent Diana Sayavedra.

Corpus Christi ISD Superintendent Roland Hernandez will depart the Executive Committee upon the completion of his two-year term as an at-large member on May 31.

Committee Chairs

Alamo Heights ISD Superintendent Dana Bashara will join the Executive Committee as chair of the TASA Professional Learning Committee June 1 for a term ending May 31, 2026.

Wichita Falls ISD Superintendent Donny Lee was reappointed to serve a new two-year term on the Executive Committee as chair of the TASA Member Engagement Committee. That term begins June 1, 2024, and ends May 31, 2026. He was originally appointed chair in June 2023 to serve the second year of the term begun by the prior chair; that term ends May 31, 2024.

Frenship ISD Superintendent Michelle McCord, who began her two-year term on the Executive Committee in 2023 as TASA Legislative Committee chair has one more year on her term, which ends May 31, 2025.

2024-25 TASA President Martha Salazar-Zamora will soon appoint a new Advocacy Committee chair, who will serve June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025, to complete Nivens’ term since he will serve as vice president in 2024-25.

Lubbock-Cooper ISD Deputy Superintendent Macy Satterwhite will depart the Executive Committee upon the completion of her two-year term as chair of the Professional Learning Committee on May 31.

Newly Elected Members

As previously announced, one other new member will join the TASA Executive Committee in June 2024. Nine members eligible to serve another term will begin new two-year terms on June 1.
