During its regular meeting on March 28, the TASA Executive Committee approved two at-large appointments to the committee, ratified the election of the 2019-20 TASA president-elect, and elected the 2019-20 vice president.
At-Large Appointments
The Executive Committee approved the appointment of Walter Jackson, superintendent, Brenham ISD, and the reappointment of LaTonya Goffney, superintendent, Aldine ISD, to two-year terms from June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2021. (Goffney was eligible for reappointment because she had served in the position just since June 2018, when she filled the position vacated by Doug Williams, who then moved into the Legislative Committee chair position on the Executive Committee.)
2019-20 TASA President-Elect and Vice President Chosen
The TASA Executive Committee ratified the election of Northside ISD Superintendent Brian Woods as 2019-20 TASA president-elect. Woods was the only candidate submitting the necessary petitions, and was thereby elected to the position. He currently serves as the 2018-19 TASA vice president. The Executive Committee elected Sunnyvale ISD Superintendent Doug Williams, currently serving as the Legislative Committee chair, to serve as TASA 2019-20 vice president. Both will serve one-year terms starting June 1.
President-Elect Smith to Assume Position of President
Greg Smith, superintendent, Clear Creek ISD, assumes the position of TASA president on June 1.
The 2019 Executive Committee election results were announced earlier in March. The Executive Committee ratified the results of those elections at its meeting.
