State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) rule (19 TAC Section 242.25) states that all superintendents in the first year of the superintendency and superintendents new to Texas must participate in a one-year mentorship that includes at least 36 hours of professional development and contact with a mentor at least once per month. TASA’s Superintendent Mentoring Program is designed to help new superintendents enrolled in the First-Time Superintendents Academy to meet the requirements of the SBEC rule.
In order to facilitate the mentoring program, TASA must have trained mentors. Trainings are conducted twice each year: once in the fall (virtual) and once in the summer in conjunction with TASA’s txedFest (in-person).
Sponsorship of these three-hour trainings includes your linked logo on the Superintendent Mentoring Program webpage, acknowledgement during both events, and an invitation for your representatives to attend and introduce themselves at the summer event.
