Six members of the TASA Executive Committee, eligible to serve a second term, have notified the TASA office of their intent to continue their service on the committee, beginning June 1, 2018.
Executive Committee members who intend to continue in a second term:
Region 4: Charles Dupre, Fort Bend ISD
Region 6: Clark Ealy, College Station ISD
Region 10: Kevin Worthy, Royse City ISD
Region 12: George Kazanas, Midway ISD
Region 14: Shaun Barnett, Stamford ISD
Region 18: Ariel Elliott, Greenwood ISD
The following Executive Committee members will complete their second two-year term on May 31, 2018, and will not be eligible for re-election:
Region 2: Troy Mircovich, Ingleside ISD
Region 8: Rex Burks, Simms ISD
Region 20: Brian Woods, Northside ISD
Steve Post, superintendent, Tulia ISD, and Region 16 representative on the Executive Committee, has informed the TASA office that he is not seeking re-election for a second term.
Nomination Process
The 2018 Executive Committee Election Operating Procedures state that a candidate or any TASA member in the region may initiate a petition to secure a nomination for a seat on the Executive Committee. The petition form can be obtained by contacting Ann Roland at TASA headquarters at aroland@tasanet.org or 512-477-6361.
Petitions must be supported by signatures of active TASA members in the region, totaling a number equal to 15 percent of the active members in the region, but no less than five, as of May 31, 2017. (The number of signatures required for each even-numbered region is posted online.)
Petitions containing the required number of signatures must be received by the TASA executive director no later than February 15, 2018.
