La Porte ISD Superintendent Walter Jackson has been elected to the 23-member Executive Committee of AASA, The School Superintendents Association, effective July 1, 2026. An installation ceremony will be held during the Committee’s July meeting in Washington, D.C. (at which time, TASA Past President and AASA President-elect LaTonya Goffney will be sworn in as AASA president).

“Dr. Jackson will a great representative of Texas at the national level, and this recognition is well-deserved,” said TASA Executive Director Kevin Brown. “Along with AASA President-elect LaTonya Goffney, Texas administrators are fortunate to have these two ambassadors serving as the voice for all of us.”

Jackson currently serves as one of three TASA members on the 135-member AASA Governing Board with a term ending this June. TASA will soon hold an election to fill his seat on the Governing Board.

As previously announced, Jackson will also serve as TASA vice president starting June 1, 2026.
