Point Isabel ISD Superintendent Theresa Capistran has been elected to represent Region 1 on the TASA Executive Committee in a seat previously held by Alejos Salazar, who resigned from the committee.
Capistran has worked in education for 37 years, beginning as a teacher and later serving in multiple roles across Brownsville ISD schools, including counselor, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent. She currently serves as superintendent of Point Isabel ISD, a position she has held since 2019.
A TASA member since 2018, Capistran serves on the Legislative Committee and the TASA Commissioner’s Cabinet.
Capistran will serve on the Executive Committee for the remainder of Salazar’s term, through May 31, 2027.
