Elections for the open TASA Executive Committee seats for the term June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2021, are underway.
Following the February 15 deadline to submit valid petitions in order to be placed on a ballot, the status of the elections for the open positions in Regions 1, 3, and 15 is:
In Region 15, where the Executive Committee member was not eligible to serve another term, Joe Young, superintendent, Brownwood ISD, was elected to a two-year term, beginning June 1, by submitting the necessary petitions, without opposition. In Regions 1 and 3, four TASA members submitted the necessary petitions to be listed as candidates on the ballots. The ballots for the election in Regions 1 and 3 will be mailed to active TASA members in these regions on February 25.
The candidates for the Region 1 position are:
- Susana Garza, superintendent, Jim Hogg County ISD
- Gonzalo Salazar, superintendent, Los Fresnos CISD
The candidates for the Region 3 position are:
- Jo Ann Bludau, superintendent, Hallettsville ISD
- Tina Herrington, superintendent, Wharton ISD
Election ballots are to be returned to the TASA office, postmarked no later than Friday, March 8.
