About Me

Having led at all levels of a public school system, including eight years as superintendent at Floresville ISD, my passion has centered on growing people — helping others develop their natural talents while managing their weaknesses. I believe that everyone has inherent strengths that can inspire them to achieve.

I credit relationships built with my board, staff, community, and colleagues across the state to have enabled me to navigate through tragedy, crisis, and high profile situations, including the Sutherland Springs church shooting, a visit from Vice President Mike Pence, tornado devastation, and COVID-19. I believe my legacy as a leader is how I develop the people with whom I work.

After dedicating 30 years to a career in education, I retired but had a strong desire to stay connected to the work of public education. I now support public school leaders through the development of relationships. As a mentor and coach, my goal is to help leaders meet the challenges they face, survive the rough spots, and thrive in the important work they do.

I was born and raised in Texas, and I earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State University. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from A&M Kingsville and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.

I have been married to my husband, Tim, for over 30 years. I’m the proud mother of Ryan and Shelbi, but my favorite title is “Gibbi,” which is what my precious grandchildren, Jace, Codi, Kaci, and Rylee, call me.
