About Me
During my 15-year tenure as superintendent of Somerset ISD, I was able to lead and nurture several administrators within the organization to rise to the position of superintendent in other districts across Texas.
In 2023, after serving over 31 years in education, I transitioned from a successful career in public education to becoming an executive coach and a search consultant, offering a unique blend of coaching and leadership prowess that guides individuals and organizations toward sustainable growth and fulfillment.
In addition to working with TASA as an executive coach, I serve on the Somerset Education Foundation Board and work with The National Institute for Excellence in Teaching as an Executive in Residence focused on building capacity of staff primarily in districts in low socio-economic areas. My goal is to mentor others and serve as an advocate for public education across Texas.
I was born in Kingsville, Texas, but was raised in Freer, graduating from Freer High School. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Southwest Texas State University. I also hold a master’s in Education Administration from Texas A&M-Kingsville and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at Austin.
My wife, Elsa, and I have two sons: David, who is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio; and Nicholas, who is enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin.
My passion is to to support individuals as they grow and build capacity. My goal is to serve as a thought partner with new or experienced superintendents and to help them build confidence in the decision-making process.
