About Me

I have proudly served as the superintendent of schools for East Central ISD in southeast Bexar County since 2014. In addition, I serve as a mentor in TASA’s Superintendent Mentoring Program and as an executive coach in the TASA Executive Coaching Network.

Through a partnership with The Holdsworth Center, I was provided with an executive coach in 2020. Although I was a bit skeptical, this experience proved to be transformational. At this stage of my life, my primary focus is to help amplify the success of others, especially those serving in the most demanding leadership positions. I wholeheartedly believe in the value of executive coaching and I’m convinced that it accelerates personal and professional growth.

I started my career as a substitute teacher and bus driver and worked my way into the superintendency after serving in a wide range of leadership roles along the way. I have a proven record of building high-performing teams as well as developing a deep bench of ready leaders. I am a systems thinker who strives to implement sustainable solutions to complex problems. Over time, I have learned to prioritize my personal wellness so that I am capable of being the best version of myself in every aspect of my life.

I am an active member of the Superintendent Advisory Board for Friends of Texas Public Schools, chair the Region 20 Bexar County cluster of superintendents, serve as a member of the board of directors for the Up Partnership, and I chair the education sector of the San Antonio area United Way campaign.

My wife, Bonnie, and I have been married for 29 years and we are blessed beyond measure by our three children and four grandchildren.
