Gonzalo Salazar, Executive Coach

About Me

I am a passionate, seasoned superintendent with nearly 20 years in the role of superintendent of the Los Fresnos CISD and approaching 40 years of service in public education.

My life’s purpose is to make a profound impact in the lives of others. I lead knowing I have responsibility to the students we serve and set out to create the meaningful learning experiences that can change the trajectory of their lives. I also lead with the knowledge that I have an obligation to develop the next generation of leaders. I am intentional as I create opportunties for their growth.

In addition to serving as an active superintendent, I try to give back to the profession by serving as an executive coach. I enjoy being a thought partner and mentor to first-time superintendents, offering a unique blend of coaching and leadership experience to guide individuals toward sustainable growth and fulfillment.

I have served as the president of TASA (2022-23), a member of the TASA Executive Commitee, and on the UIL Legislative Council. I am a fellow with the Broad Center at Yale School of Management and a TED Ed. Innovative Educator. Through these experiences, I have learned best practices and our students have benefited from the implementation of initatives inspired by these opportunities.

I have experience creating system structures that foster a positive climate and a culture of a growth mindset. I believe leadership development should not be confined to our school district boundaries and welcome the opportunity to serve as a thought partner as you advance through your leadership journey.

My wife, Sandra, and I were blessed with three children. Two graduated from Los Fresnos High School (in 2017 and 2019). Our youngest still attends Los Fresnos CISD schools. Of all the various roles at the state and local level I have served in, my favorite role is Dad!
