The House Higher Education Committee has scheduled a hearing for 8 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2025, to hear public testimony on a number of bills, including:

HB 4701 Leo-Wilson – This bill relates to the use of alternative assessment instruments as part of the undergraduate admissions process. The bill would establish that, in addition to existing assessments, school districts could administer nationally recognized preliminary college preparation assessments in the spring of the 8th and 10th grades. High school students could take a single college admissions assessment at state cost during their 11th or 12th grade, including the SAT, ACT, or Classic Learning Test (CLT), which were not explicitly mentioned prior. The bill would also adjust the admissions criteria for general academic institutions, allowing applicants to meet either ACT College Readiness Benchmarks or achieve specified scores on the SAT (at least 1,500 out of 2,400) or the CLT (a minimum score of 71 out of 120).
