At its March 29, 2023, meeting, the TASA Executive Committee ratified the election of Tomball ISD Superintendent Martha Salazar-Zamora as 2023-24 TASA president-elect. She currently serves as the 2022-23 TASA vice president.

The committee also elected Whitehouse ISD Superintendent Chris Moran as 2023-24 TASA vice president. He currently serves as the Region 7 representative on the Executive Committee, and had been re-elected to a second term on the committee from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2025. An election to fill the Region 7 position on the Executive Committee for the two-year term beginning June 1 will be held soon.

LaTonya Goffney, superintendent, Aldine ISD, assumes the position of 2023-24 TASA president on June 1, when Salazar-Zamora and Moran also begin their one-year terms.

Other Changes to the Executive Committee for 2023-24

At-Large Members

The Executive Committee approved the appointment of Crosby ISD Superintendent Paula Patterson and El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra to at-large positions on the Executive Committee. They will serve two-year terms beginning June 1.

Round Rock ISD Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez and Channelview ISD Superintendent Tory Hill will depart the Executive Committee upon the completion of their two-year terms as at-large members on May 31.

Committee Chairs

Lubbock-Cooper ISD Deputy Superintendent Macy Satterwhite will serve the second year of her two-year term on the Executive Committee as the chair of the TASA Professional Learning Committee, while Hutto ISD Superintendent Celina Estrada-Thomas will serve the second year of her two-year term on the Executive Committee as chair of the TASA Member Engagement Committee.

Lamar CISD Superintendent Roosevelt Nivens was reappointed to serve as the Advocacy Committee chair, so he will serve a new two-year term on the Executive Committee starting June 1 and ending May 31, 2025.

Frenship ISD Superintendent Michelle McCord, who currently serves in the Region 17 position on the Executive Committee, was appointed to chair the Legislative Committee for 2023-2025, so she will serve a two-year term on the Executive Committee starting June 1 and ending May 31, 2025. (Lubbock-Cooper ISD Superintendent Keith Bryant’s term as chair ends May 31.) An election to fill McCord’s Region 17 position on the Executive Committee for the two-year term beginning June 1 will be held soon.

Newly Elected Members

As previously announced, two other new members will also join the TASA Executive Committee in June 2023.
