The Senate Finance Committee has posted a hearing notice for 9 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, and among other bills, will hear testimony on two bills related to the Texas Teacher Retirement System:
- SB 202 Schwertner
Would hold a reporting employer ultimately responsible for payment of the amounts required to be contributed to TRS. The bill would prohibit the employer passing on cost indirectly or directly (through payroll deduction, imposition of a fee, etc) to the retiree. This change of law would apply to a retiree regardless of when they retired.SB 202 applies beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. - SB 288 Seliger | et al.
Would provide a warning to TRS retirees who unintentionally violate an Employment After Retirement provision before losing part of an annuity payment.
