Nancy Zigler's career path began in the energy industry, translating to her later work in government labs researching methods to produce clean alternative fuels.
She has held positions with the Environmental Protection Agency, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI). She has also worked as an editor for several literary journals and spent the last three years teaching undergraduates at the University of Pittsburgh.
Zigler is currently an education specialist at Johnson Space Center. She manages the High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program, which is now in its 18th year of operation. HAS promotes an interactive learning curriculum through its support of an online community composed of Texas high school juniors passionate about the STEM disciplines.
Zigler earned double undergraduate degrees from Texas A&M University in chemistry and finance, as well as a graduate degree in creative writing from the University of Pittsburgh.
